한국어 내용
당신이 준 정보를 가지고 견적을 낼게요.
대략적인 견적이 되겠지만 얼마가 들지 대충 감은 올 거예요.
그 가격이 너무 높다 싶으면 다른 방법을 찾아볼 수 있을 거 같고요,
그런 게 아니면 누군가를 보내서 더 자세히 살펴보고 정확한 비용을 결정짓고 나면 최종 결정을 하시면 됩니다.
영어 - Casual
I'll come up with an initial cost estimate from the information that you've given me.
It'll be a rough estimate but it should give you an idea of about how much you'll be spending.
If you feel that it's too much, we can look for another way.
Otherwise, we'll send someone to take a closer look and determine the exact cost.
Then, you can make your final decision.

몇몇 다른 부분이 보이시나요? 이번에는 달라진 부분을 보면서 왜 이렇게 썼는지 알아보겠습니다.
영어 - Casual

영어 - Formal

이 두 부분은 의미는 같지만 어감이 달라집니다.
1. from : ~을 가지고 → based on ~을 토대로
2. given me : 당신이 준 → provided : 당신이 제공한
It'll be a rough estimate but it should give you an idesa of what to expect.
about how much you'll be spending : 대략적으로 얼마를 쓰게 될지
→ what to expect : 무엇을 예상할 수 있을지
돈에 대한 얘기를 하는 것은 서로 알고 있지만, '돈을 쓰다' 이렇게 직접적으로 말하는 것보단
둘러서 말하는 게 부드럽게 전달된다고 생각했기 때문입니다.

이번에도 비슷한 맥락입니다.
If you feel that it's too much : 너무 비싸다 싶으면
은 너무 직설적이므로 순화해서 표현했습니다.
💡 [좋은 표현] If you have any reservations
생각이 달라지면 / 마음이 바뀌면 / 뭔가 하기로 했다가 주저하는 마음이 들 때 reservation을 사용합니다.
두 표현의 의미는 같으나 (다른 방법을 모색해보자)
💡 discuss other options → 업무적으로 많이 쓰이는 표현입니다.

to take a closer look : '자세히 살펴보다'는 좋은 표현이나
여기서는 단순하게 보는 게 아니라 측정, 분석 후 판단한다는 의미까지 내포해야 하므로 inspect를 사용했습니다.
then : 그러고 나면
then을 써도 전혀 문제는 없으나, formal 하게 얘기할 때는 한 문장으로 이어서 말하는 게 좋기 때문에
after which를 사용했습니다, 두 표현 모두 의미는 같습니다.
영어 대화문을 봤을 때 어려운 단어나 표현은 전혀 없었지만
한국어 대화문만 딱 나왔을 때 어떻게 말을 해야 할지 전혀 감이 오질 않았습니다.
실력의 부족함을 또 한 번 느끼는 포스팅이었습니다. 차츰차츰 나아지길 바라면서 꾸준히 더 노력해야겠다는 다짐도 하게 됩니다. 추석쯤에는 부디 초등학교 1학년 수준 정도라도 말할 수 있기를 바랍니다. 🤗
